The awkward, narrow plot available for this extension led to an S-shaped plan, giving as many rooms as possible a view of the park opposite. A new wall links the new part with its 24 rooms, seminar rooms and chapel, to the old, and also creates a secluded courtyard. Glass-fronted niches with seats invite moments of rest and contemplation. The curved facade is dominated by the echoing shape of basket-like balconies on the guest rooms. Removable wickerwork screens are fitted to the steel uprights in the projecting precast concrete slabs of the balconies.
