The 21.5-hectare meadow south of the Copenhagen Opera House lay fallow for over 20 years. The prime inner-city site on the Dokøen harbour island was initially designated for residential development. However, the A.P. Møller Foundation ultimately commissioned the architectural firm Cobe to design a public park, including an underground parking garage directly connected to the opera house.
