These two apartment towers revel in the gritty port atmosphere of Westkaai, located north of Antwerp’s centre. Surrounded by dock buildings and harbour basins, they are the first two of a total of six towers projected as part of an urban expansion project. Both are 55 m high, have a 450 m2 footprint, as well as a total of 15 levels and 84 apartments. Their urban silhouette contrasts with the adjacent low-slung warehouses. Businesses and shops are situated on the ground level. Eleven different apartment floor plans are combined to arrive at seven different types of levels; the types are repeated up to four times per tower. This stacking principle is clearly legible in the cast-glass and aluminium-sheet building envelope.
