In the Bivacco Fanton mountain climbers on the Forcella Marmarole can take refuge from the forces of nature at a height of 2667 metres. Once inside this mountain hut they can still enjoy the breathtaking view down into the valley 1800 metres below. Even its appearance causes the heart to beat faster. Unlike most of the bivouac boxes in the Dolomites the hut does not stand on a level platform but follows the incline of the slope, giving the impression that it could slide down the mountain at any moment. Twelve bunks provide overnight accommodation for alpinists and there is a lounge with a panorama window measuring 1.7 × 2.6 metres that, in an emergency, can withstand the impact of 20 fully-grown people.
