This black house within sight of the Ammersee was built as an extension. Despite the minimal dimensions of only 6 × 3.80 m under a pitched roof, in both functional and design terms it seems like an independent house with its own garden.
With its simple traditional appearance the house resembles the barns or boathouses on the nearby lake and fits harmoniously into its surroundings. The facades are clad with wooden boards; before they were mounted their outer face was charred in the traditional Japanese technique known as Shou Sugi Ban by the carpenter.
