With their new central administration facility, the municipality of Uccle, located south of Brussels and home to 80 000 residents, sets a signal for resource efficiency and adaptive re-use: Together with its roughly 450 staff members, it moved into the former headquarters of an engineering firm. The office complex, structured into four parts and built in the 1970s, is located outside of the city centre along a heavily frequented arterial road situated between residential and commercial areas. To the west, railway tracks pass the site, which is surrounded by a park-like green space featuring old trees.
