The 7714 ceramic elements with ivory appeal, reminiscent of books in a bookshelf, envelop the new library building in Dornbirn. Sometimes vertical and sometimes tilted, they are arranged in horizontal rows of differing height that encircle the pavilion with its oval floor plan. Dietrich Untertrifaller Architekten and Christian Schmoelz situated the stand-alone building with its amorphous shape within a green space located five walking minutes from the market place of the city in the Vorlarlberg region. Located between the primary school, the old city hall, the former library and surrounding residential buildings, it constitutes a new centre and consolidates the heterogeneous context.
