What is immediately striking about this company restaurant for 2,000 employees in the Swabian town of Ditzingen is its unconventional roof construction, which turns a visit to the canteen into a spatial experience. The pentagonal pavilion is glazed all around its perimeter and occasionally follows the contours of the surrounding buildings. Its main floor sits 4 m below the ground surface. This allows the secondary rooms to be concealed underground. A space-defining honeycomb ceiling spans the main room and its mezzanine at a height of up to 9 m.
