The new headquarters of concrete block manufacturer Montalbány Rodriguez is located in Murcia in southern Spain, in a commercial area surrounded by unalluring buildings. Architect Manuel Costoya Carro decided against organising the different parts of the program, including an office wing and a hall with exhibition spaces, within two separate, adjacent buildings. He built an industrial hall consisting of standard construction components and placed the offices, cubes comprised of insulated lightweight
construction, inside the hall. This design concept offers numerous pragmatic advantages: a minimum of space, construction costs and energy costs, since the hall merely requires moderate climate control. Only the office cubes feature full air conditioning. The short construction time saved costs as well.
