There is no end to new uses for old buildings as shown by the conversion of this listed vicarage barn into a large multi-functional community hall for a small neighbourhood in the picturesque Altmühltal in Bavaria. The challenge as to reconcile the historic fabric of the barn with the demands of new use for a building for people, and accommodating these with the stringent fire legislation that apply to public buildings. The roof structure and masonry work were sound and could be saved.
