The Felix-Platter-Hospital building in the Iselin district of Basel was actually scheduled for demolition. However, this was prevented. The striking highrise slab from the 1960s was converted into a housing cooperative with 134 apartments and common areas for the new Westfeld development. The mix of apartment types is diverse and each residential unit is designed to meet individual needs: 1 room student apartments, 3.5 room duplex apartments for families, guest and “joker rooms” for short term rental use among association members, or co-living communities with seventeen units for seniors.
