Ptuj on the Drava river is Slovenia’s oldest city, its history reaching back to the Roman era. It is also home to a very lively cultural scene. The dilapidated block in the medieval town centre had formerly housed a glass factory. For a long time, artists have occupied it. The architectural office of Elementarna transformed the existing edifice into a cultural centre. Organised on an L-shaped plan, the small scale building structure seamlessly fits into the historic context. The urban regeneration project also led to the redesign of the bordering alleys and plazas.
