With the transformation of this former granary building into a cultural centre, a neglected urban area has been rejuvenated. The enormous structure houses a wide range of facilities, including spaces for the arts, dining, administrative and commercial uses. The existing building was gutted and extended somewhat. Two large exposed concrete cubes containing exhibition spaces were inserted on each side of the central entrance area, which was the only part of the building where elements of the old timber structure were retained. On the other hand, the solid sections of the historical fabric were integrated into the new concept to ensure constant atmospheric conditions in the exhibition areas.
