This seaside pavilion on the south coast of England was designed by Erich Mendelsohn and Serge Chermayeff. It was taken into use in 1935 and is one of the most impressive examples of Modern Movement architecture built in Britain before the Second World War. After the war, the building fell into decay and underwent various alterations. An extensive rehabilitation programme has now been drawn up. By 1993, the south façade of the building had been completely restored. The balconies have been rebuilt, new paving laid and the columns refurbished and retiled.?
