It would be simple to define microarchitecture in terms of the familiar things about us. Our own definition of the term, however, refers to objects that are lifted physically off the ground and only minimally in contact with it, “touching the earth lightly”. It also involves a search for new typologies, which has manifested itself in projects such as the M-Igloo and the Hard Tent in which we seek to achieve and experience more with less. We aim to minimize the use of materials and energy, to integrate transportation and habitation, while creating a tighter fit between architecture and contemporary products.
