In the Frastanz-Hofen education centre near Feldkirch, Pedevilla Architects united existing and new within an harmonic complex. The transitions between the two building parts can only be identified at a second glance. The overall monochrome design of the building envelope contributes to this impression to a significant degree. This includes the glazed roof tiles, the rough lime render of the facades, the vertical blinds in front of the windows and the prefabricated concrete window sills. Only few building elements, such as the blue window frames with their small-scale structure in the renovated existing wing, deviate from a colour scheme that is reminiscent of volcanic porphyry rock. There is no direct example or reference on site for the red hues.
