The structure of the new main railway station in Rotterdam is composed of two very different elements. With a grand formal gesture, the entrance hall of the central station opens out toward the city centre. Concealed behind it in an almost timid manner lies the unassuming, “subtle” terminal hall, almost 250 m long and 160 m wide.
