Green building certification schemes are a way of measuring and verifying the sustainability of buildings. The most commonly used schemes around the world are the American LEED standard (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), Britains’s BREEAM (BRE Environmental Assessment Method) and the Deutsches Gütesiegel Nachhaltiges Bauen (DGNB).
