Technology: Passive-Energy Buildings in Prefabricated Timber Construction

Passive-energy building exploits passive forms of heat, such as the sun, human beings and electrical equipment, as a source of thermal energy and can manage without active heating systems. To achieve this, the building must be airtight and highly insulated; there should be no thermal bridges; and the energy consumption for heating should be less than 15 kWh/m2 per annum.
