The way architecture is “produced” these days is no longer about fitting together different building materials by hand, but about combining a range of factory-made semi-finished products. There’s nothing “off the peg”, however, about precast reinforced concrete. These components are mostly custom-made for a specific application; the architect is closely involved in their design.
