The Luminy science campus of the University of Aix-Marseilles is embedded in the hilly Calanques landscape south-east of Marseilles. The scattered institute buildings allow close contact with nature, but make social life, with a lively exchange between people, more complicated. The new research centre has now become a focal point, where students of different faculties can meet.
