Away from the ivory tower of architecture shown in museums and in with the people – that was the architect‘s aim. A temporary exhibition tunnel was designed as an “innovative building concept” – the subject of the Swabian Architecture Prize – for the Allgäuer Festwochen. It combined old and new, existing and temporary features. Visitors were “sucked” into the Baroque pavilion through a long tunnel painted sapphire-blue on the outside, with the inside walls in crimson to dissolve spatial limits and dramatize the feeling of plunging into the building. As visitors pass through they are shown videos of the prize-winning buildings. “Taking the plunge” like this meant allowing your curiosity free rein.
