Although Glenn Murcutt's renown as an architect relates mainly to his light steel buildings, this timber farmhouse fits smoothly into the series of his other dwellings. Despite their open architectural form, these buildings are reminiscent of the traditional Australian farmhouse with its almost industrial character. The galvanised corrugated sheet steel the architect employed for the roofing may be characterized as the national building material even preferred by the Aboriginees to the primitive tree bark for their huts.
