The new Fellows Pavilion of the American Academy in Berlin is situated on the shores of Wannsee. Fully glazed, with clear rectangular lines and a white-painted steel structure, it stands before a stock of old trees on the edge of a park.

Functionally, it is a response to the lack of space in the main academy building nearby. The pavilion contains seven study rooms for scholarship holders as well as a small kitchen. The spaces are divided by wooden-clad partitions, while the walls separating the rooms from the corridor are glazed, like the sliding doors on the outer faces.

The layout is strikingly simple, in contrast to the roof, which has a symmetrical plan radiating from the centre.
