In the suburb of Wabern, which has retained much of its village character, the building known as the Garden Tower stands out clearly from its surroundings. The new building resulted from a competition held in 2007 that proposed the construction of housing on arable land.
To achieve maximum diversity and to appeal to a variety of user groups, the site measuring roughly 24 000 m² was divided up into five building lots ascribed to different design themes: housing with a courtyard, housing in a grove, housing with a patio, housing with a balcony and housing with a view.
For the last of these themes Buchner Bründler designed a glazed residential tower on a polygonal plan, in which the floor area increases from storey to storey.
