The plot allocated to the German Embassy at the Apostolic See was of moderate size only, yet beautiful gradually sloping west and covered with pines and cypresses. Situated in the heart of the 19th century Rome, it represents the archetype of Roman urban landscape. So as not to disrupt this unique setting, the opportunity to conceal the offices, as it were in the terraces, was seized. That is to say that the roof of the offices is just below the upper level of the terrain, thus extending the garden of the residency by the area of the roof.
