Architects Valentin Bearth, Andrea Deplazes and Daniel Ladner designed this private home for a family of three on a property close to the village centre of Tamins in Graubünden, Switzerland.

The new building is situated on a green slope. The double-storey northern facade forms a new courtyard with the neighbouring farmhouse, while the single-storey southern façade opens onto fields and a panoramic view of the Rhine Valley.

With its elongated, narrow form – 20 × 5 m – the house echoes the typical vernacular architecture of the barns and industrial buildings in the village.
