The former headquarters of the tyre company Armstrong Rubber in New Haven can hardly be overlooked. The steel frame structure and its facade consisting of prefabricated concrete elements were designed to be seen from afar. A five storey office structure seemingly floats above a two storey base, originally built for research laboratories and production facilities. The floor slabs of the floating structure are suspended from steel trusses that are located in the rooftop storey.
