With the renovation of the ruinous 200-year-old baroque barn of the cloister of Heiligkreuztal and conversion into a museum, the historically enlightening excavations on the nearby "Heuneburg" during the years 1950 to 1979 could be opened to an interested public. The Heuneburg is a Celtic settlement with a long history of the vicissitudes of war, alternating occupation, revivement and destruction to the general decline in the 12th century of this type of castle buildings. Clearing the barn of hay and farm implements exposed an excellent roof structure, which the architect incorporated into his new design.
