Many Swedes own a small house in the country with a modest degree of technical comfort where they can spend their weekends in summer. The present house on the island of Gotland, designed for the architect’s own use, was to have a simple form of construction so that he could undertake much of the building work himself. Set on an untouched site, the new structure has a simple pitched roof and a few carefully positioned openings in the outer skin. The interior was conceived as an all-purpose space with a symmetrical layout.
