The “Costa Lanta” island resort off the west coast of Thailand places great emphasis on unspoilt nature. Set back from the beach, the 20 detached bungalows are embedded in a tropical landscape. The units are in the form of open pavilions and contain a bedroom and bathroom. They incorporate many modern conveniences, yet still convey a sense of unity with nature. In front of each house is a terrace covered with sailcloth and affording a view to the Indian Ocean. The bungalows are distinguished by their polished exposed concrete surfaces and the simple, clear design of the inbuilt fittings. The restaurant and bar can be opened to the surroundings, creating a flowing transition between indoors and outdoors.
