The Prater Glacis ensemble consists of three buildings located directly next to the popular amusement park in Vienna’s second district. Two hospitality businesses share the middle structure, yet follow different concepts: Superbude is a design hostel, while Zoku offers a home office hybrid with hotel service, which is how the Dutch operator describes their own concept. The U-shaped building is raised above a former bus parking lot and opens towards the south, facing the Prater. A smaller part of the former parking area continues to be available to buses and cars. Six storeys featuring guestrooms enclosed by a timber facade are set on top of a glazed pedestal bordering the street. A public passage leads to the Prater and divides the structure into two parts. The simple, rendered back side of the building features an emergency staircase that connects the two lateral wings.
