Surrounded by nature, this residence is aptly named nest. Although the components are subject to temperatures as low as 2 °C, their insulation is only 100 mm thick, and the large central entrance space intermingles with the outdoors. Only when temperatures drop significantly are the sliding elements employed to enclose the space. Their parked position is outside the facade and does not infringe upon the spatial continuum. Simple elevations are paired with a complex spatial concept: the entrance is cut into the earth, extending the garden contained within the building massing vertically. The residents can choose from a variety of options, e.g. at which level they will sit and which view of the spaces they prefer.
