Wedged in between high-rise blocks, this four-storey house is set on a site only four by eight metres in size, yet it provides a transparent environment for two journalists to live and work. The solid concrete floor slabs seem to float in the air. Only at second glance is one aware of the massive load-bearing concrete pillars – and a slender corner column.

The floors are linked by a minimal steel staircase. Room-height glazed walls visually enlarge the small internal spaces, opening them to the outdoor realm. The garden can be used almost all year round as an extension of the living areas – a vertical green space where plant containers and concrete furniture function as balustrades and vegetation as a visual screen.
