Gas is expensive as are heat pumps – what then should be done in social housing to prevent energy bills impoverishing the residents? Architects Peris + Toral have given a radical answer to this question with their housing block on the urban periphery of Ibiza, the capital of the eponymous Balearic Island: they decided to dispense entirely with an active heating and cooling system.
