Each unit contains 3 climatic zones - a conservatory with insulated shutters separated from the central zone by insulating glass doors, also with shutters, opening into the outer space, and an inner, northern zone. By opening shutters, heat in the conservatory can be brought into the central area, where it rises and is channelled down an air vent to floor level in the central or northern zone. Conerete floors act as a thermal store.
