The facades of this South Korean information centre for recycling concrete show three examples of this technology. The precast elements to the east face were inspired by the texture of tree trunks and have a series of irregular folds. Polyethylene fabric was laid over PVC tubes of various diameters, with boarded shuttering at the sides, and the concrete was poured into the roughly 1 ? 7 m forms. The weight of the concrete causes the plastic sheeting to move and creates shear wrinkles. The south facade and the roof, in contrast, were constructed with crushed concrete in gabions and provide protection against the sun. In the other facades, exposed concrete is contrasted with planar timber elements.
