This new urban district with courts of justice is situated on the border between Barcelona and l’Hospitalet, forming a city within the city. The total storey area of 240,000 m2 is distributed over a series of cubic high-rise blocks in different pastel colours. Based on a single module and constructed in in-situ concrete, the facades are punctuated by identical vertical window openings that form a unifying element from the ground to the roof. The law courts are housed in four buildings linked by a four-storey low-rise structure, the horizontal facade articulation of which distinguishes it as an independent volume. Five separate tower blocks accommodate service functions as well as commercial offices and shops.
