Kufu 142 is a striking building group project on Kurfürstenstrasse in Berlin by June 14 architects. The Berlin-based architectural team June 14 designed an eight-storey, 25-meter-high residential building that is all about transparency and permeability. A variety of names for the Kufu 142 cooperative “building group” (Baugruppe) project on Kurfürstenstrasse have been used to describe it on social media: accordion, glass box, even a “beacon in the city.” It all began ten years ago. A loose circle of friends set out to find a plot of land in a central location in Berlin – already a rare commodity at the time. In 2012, they purchased their first plot at Kurfürstenstrasse 142, right next to a historic building occupied by Beuth University of Applied Sciences.
