Resilient floorings are made of layers just a few millimetres thick, which are sometimes applied to particular backing materials. As a result of their flexibility and thinness they differ from hard floor coverings such as stone, ceramic, wood or laminate.
Unlike textile coverings, which exhibit a similar elasticity and comparable thickness, resilient coverings have no fibre structure. Therefore, like hard floor coverings, they are classified as having smooth surfaces. (José Luis Moor)
