At an altitude of 2,096 metres in the Ober-eggen ski and hiking area in the western Dolomites lies the Oberholz mountain cabin. This modern interpretation of an alpine restaurant combines atmospheric internal spaces with extensive views.

Situated close to the chairlift and the ski slope, the building nestles on its rear face against the flank of the mountain.
On the valley side, in contrast, the three fully glazed gable facades of the building afford perspectives of various mountain ranges. The architects compare the layout with the image of a tree lying on the ground with branching forms growing out of the slope.
