The new cultural centre in Randers, Jutland, was accommodated in a disused power station and an adjoining riding hall. The different buildings of the power station developed over a long period of time from 1906 to 1960 and today house an auditorium, a concert hall and a café. The riding hall that dates back to about 1890 and has a seating capacity of about 1800, is used for larger events such as rock concerts and exhibitions. For years, both the riding hall and the affiliated former dragoon barracks were used as a factory building, a fact that contributed decisively to its deterioration and ultimate dilapidated condition.
