Built in 1835, originally intended as an inn, this classical style building has undergone many changes. After WW2 it housed an America House library, open to the townspeople, and in the Eighties was modernised and converted into the municipal library. Whilst retaining as much of the original structure as possible, the architects made full use of modern techniques and materials to create spatial effects. The stairs, as other features, are of simple, careful design and high quality materials.
