The paramount goal of the renovation and conversion work on the old mills was to retain their originality and austerity while at the same time advocating the entertainment character of the new cultural ambience. There is not only a creative tension between old and new, but the introvert character of the closed library building stands in composed contrast to the extrovert character of the restaurant cum cafeteria part of the new building.
