The Grand Palais in Paris is a building of superlatives. Its glass dome, one of the largest in Europe, soars an impressive 45 metres high. The central atrium, or Nave, is a stunning structure made of steel and glass spanning 13,500 m2. Originally erected for the 1900 Paris Exposition, the Grand Palais has served as a spectacular venue for fashion events, art exhibitions, and automobile shows. In preparation for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, where it will host the fencing and taekwondo competitions, the building has been undergoing extensive renovation. Although it will be partially opened for the Games, the complete renovation is scheduled to conclude by 2025.
