Helsinki’s new central library lies in the heart of the city, between the parliament building, Lake Töölönlahti and the main railway station. The straight rear elevation of the building follows the railway line, which passes quite closely behind it. The sculptural frontage opens onto Kansalaistori Square. A glazed roof storey with an attractive, undulating window wall forms the top of the building.
