The limited site area allowed little scope for an extensive spatial programme. The school buildings were set on the edge of the site next to a small polder canal. The reflections in the surface of the water, the colours and the form of the structure itself lend the school complex an individuality and distinctiveness that set it off from the provisional school building nearby. The layout is based on a linear circulation spine to which classroom units and other rooms are informally attached on both sides. The resulting ensemble of small blocks with projections and indentations contains an element of surprise and adventure.
