To meet the demand for schools in many new housing areas, the city of Munich took an unusual step. It held a competition for four primary schools that were to be erected simultaneously. To this end, Wulf Architects developed a modular building system that can be adapted to various locations as well as to different types and sizes of school.

The design is based on a division into individual houses of learning, which can be stacked and combined in various ways. As independent elements within the overall complex, they are a means of orientation for pupils and also convey a sense of well-being. Exposed concrete barrel-vault ceilings lend the internal spaces an unmistakable identity.
