Filigree curtain wall facades with enamelled yellow spandrel panels and recessed balconies with concrete parapet walls have characterised the face of Great Arthur House since its completion in 1956. It overlooks the surrounding Golden Lane Estate, also designed by architects Chamberlin, Powell and Bon, situated at the northern edge of the City of London.
The facade replacement undertaken by John Robertson Architects maintains the appearance of the original facade. Historic preservation requirements were strictly followed, and construction took place without the residents having to vacate the building.
