The motto of the DETAIL Prize 2009 once again was “Aesthetics and Construction”. The editors searched for structures in which precisely coordinated details support and enhance an exceptional design idea. More than 300 entries from five continents span the entire spectrum of possibilities, from a zoo feed warehouse to an air traffic control tower. This past autumn the jury shortlisted three entries for the grand prize as well as for each of the special prize categories. The winners will be announced on 14 January at the award ceremony in Munich. Norway’s Sverre Fehn will be the first to receive the DETAIL Honorary Prize for Lifetime Achievement, which carries with it a monetary award of €5,000.
